Cronos Medicinal Cannabis Production Facility

In preparation for the impending legalization of cannabis in Canada, Matheson Constructors was selected as the Design-Assist / Construction Manager by the Cronos Group for their Peace Naturals Project located in Stayner, Ontario.

The Peace Naturals project consisted of the design and construction of a 300,000 SF state-of-the-art cannabis cultivation, processing and lab facility for the production of medical grade cannabis. At the time this facility was constructed, it was the largest purpose built indoor medical cannabis facility in Canada.

This project had a very aggressive schedule, due to the owner’s requirements to start production of product in preparation for the legalization of cannabis in just under a year’s time. This milestone was achieved through significant virtual design and construction coordination with pre-fabrication and modular off-site assembly for complex systems and a phased occupancy plan, allowing more than 50% of the grow rooms to be approved for a production licence from Health Canada while construction continued for the remainder of the facility.
